Evaluation overview – Laboratories for health in Niger (LABO2S)

Assessments 20 May 2025

Meeting the UNAIDS 90-90-90 represents a key challenge for Niger. Indeed, approximately 68 % of TB patients who tested HIV positive were put on treatment, compared to the target of 98 % in 2021. Moreover, in terms of HIV-TB co-infection, the mortality rate was estimated at 14 % in 2021, which is high compared to the global target of a 90 % treatment success rate for all those diagnosed.

To improve access to quality care for people living with HIV and people with TB in Niger, the LABO2S project aims to strengthen the capacities of healthcare teams and communities of patients, enhance laboratory infrastructure to ensure the availability and quality of services, and support the development of a national HIV/TB screening strategy. This project is led by Solthis, in partnership with the Nigerien Ministry of Public Health, Foundation Mérieux, RENIP+ and Animag TB.
