The Infomesin project aims to maximize the impact of Global Fund programs by sharing key information, showcasing best practices, and advocating for policies and interventions that are better aligned with real-world needs.
Context
The Global Fund to Fight HIV, Tuberculosis (TB), and Malaria is one of the largest multilateral health donors globally, with over 70% of its resources directed toward Africa. However, despite significant efforts, results in several French-speaking countries have yet to meet expectations or reflect the level of investment. Most countries in the region have not reached the 3×90 target for HIV, even though the current recommendation is set at 3×95. Additionally, TB treatment success rates fall short of expectations. Meanwhile, malaria incidence and mortality continue to rise, despite significant donor investment and the introduction of innovative prevention and treatment tools, including vaccines.
Description
The Infosmesin project focuses on three key objectives:
- Providing beneficiary countries with reliable, well-documented information, analysis, and feedback on Global Fund grants;
- Offering beneficiaries and Global Fund stakeholders metrics on the progress and effectiveness of interventions funded by the Global Fund, particularly in French-speaking Africa;
- Helping shape the Global Fund’s programmatic and financial procedures to better suit the realities of French-speaking African countries, especially those operating in challenging environments.
AIDSPAN regularly publishes analysis and information letters in English, and through this project, now releases French-language letters every two weeks. Field surveys are also conducted in countries that have faced recurring issues across multiple Global Fund financing cycles.
Impact
The primary goal of this project is to enhance the efficiency of Global Fund-financed health programs.
