Accelerating the response to pandemics. Ensuring access to healthcare for all

L’Initiative is a French mechanism that complements the work of the Global Fund. It aims to accelerate the fight against major pandemics and help countries improve access to high-quality healthcare services.

L’Initiative combines technical assistance and catalytic funding to strengthen the capacity of health stakeholders, reinforce institutional, policy and social frameworks, and support innovative approaches. By linking local expertise with international cooperation, it contributes to a more effective, sustainable and equitable response to pandemics.

2024 Activity Report

In 2024, L’Initiative confirmed its shift in scale. It strengthened its commitment to fighting HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria, while stepping up its work on key structural issues: human resources for health, community health, sexual and reproductive health and rights, climate change and health. L’Initiative also reinforced its role as a technical and strategic partner to countries, aiming to sustainably improve access to health services for vulnerable populations, and to support more equitable, resilient and inclusive health systems.
