In Laos, despite a decrease in TB incidence since 2015, the country faces challenges in achieving the reduction goals set for 2025. Indeed, stigma, rural poverty, and lack of awareness complicate the identification of suspected cases.

The CHIAS project, funded by L’Initiative, aims to increase TB case detection and improve treatment success rates through intensified community interventions. The project mobilizes 338 community health workers, 169 village committees, two field managers, 14 peer educators and 126 health staff in 15 districts of Savannakhet province. Their actions include awareness-raising, active screening and treatment support to achieve the early detection of 1,000 people living with TB, the initiation of TPT for 195 children and adolescents, awareness-raising for 605,000 people, screening for 226,000 people…
