Ensuring continuity of care in times of crisis
In 2020, despite the COVID-19 pandemic, L’Initiative’s activity did not falter. Quite the contrary, in fact, hand in hand with national players, the diplomatic network, Global Fund teams, our teams at head office, and in the field, we have been able to adapt to continue the continuity of HIV, tuberculosis, and malaria care. In the midst of a health crisis, we even reached record levels of commitment and shook up our procedures.
More than ever, we have demonstrated our responsiveness and flexibility to meet the needs of our partner countries.
2020, an exceptional year
In 2020, L’Initiative committed more than 9 million euros to support partner countries in their funding requests: an unprecedented amount since its creation, representing the funding of more than 6,000 days of expertise. We also continued to support structuring, catalytic, long-term projects that complement Global Fund programs in the field.
Our financial investment reached a record 23.7 million euros, to support 14 new intervention projects and three operational research projects while reinforcing our support for ongoing projects already underway against the backdrop of the health crisis.
