We take a look back at a visit to Comoros by a team from L’Initiative, who met with partners to monitor projects underway and carry out technical assistance. The aim of the visit was to improve understanding of the context and the quality of interventions supported by L’Initiative, a mechanism implemented by Expertise France.
L’Initiative was also able to participate in a workshop on the prevention of gestational diabetes organized by the NGO Santé Diabète (in French) for pregnant women attending antenatal consultations at Centre Médico Urbain (CMU) in Moroni. A feedback workshop on an ongoing technical assistance assignment also took place. This related to a study exploring patient care pathways (Patient Pathway Analysis), the aim of which is to understand current “missing cases” of people infected with tuberculosis. Institutional stakeholders from the CCM the National Tuberculosis Control Program and Expertise France attended the workshop.
L’Initiative supports several projects in the Union of the Comoros
- A project to support the creation of an ACAME Training and Expertise Centre, led by ACAME in partnership with the University of Ouagadougou 1.
- A health systems strengthening project that integrates the prevention and management of diabetes/tuberculosis and diabetes/HIV led by Association Santé Diabète in partnership with the El Maarouf Hospital and the Ministry of Health—the General Directorate of Health (through the national program, to respond to non-communicable diseases, the tuberculosis program and the HIV program)—and patient organizations representing each disease.
